UT Extension: Thrive

Strengthening Rural Communities

Strengthening Rural Communities

Overview

Thrive is an evidence-based vaccine education program that is funded through the TN Department of Health. Fifteen program assistants have been hired across the state to implement evidence-based immunization information into already existing FCS programs like Matter of Balance, Walk with Ease or Living Well with Chronic Conditions. The project has also developed a youth curriculum for 3rd to 5th graders that focuses on healthy lifestyle choices and how germs spread. Thrive targets rural communities and communities that are high on the Social Vulnerability Index so that people can feel more informed in making the best health decisions for themselves and their families. We are also working in increase access by decreasing barriers to immunizations by creating partnerships and organizing mobile immunization clinics in areas of high need.
