Overview
The purpose: To determine pharmacy technicians views, roles, facilitators, and barriers to providing care to patients with opioid use disorder (OUD). Our objectives: To collect, analyze, and summarize background information surrounding opioid use disorder (OUD), best practices in caring for patients with OUD, training in substance abuse for healthcare professionals, stigma among healthcare professionals, treatment practice models involving pharmacy, and descriptions of technician roles in such models December 1, 2019 Our proposed schedule of work: Prepare and assemble draft guidance documents of semi-structured focus group questions for NHA review. Submit IRB application December 1, 2019 Request lists of licensed and registered pharmacy technicians from State licensing and registration agencies December 1, 2019 Finalize the content of the semi-structured focus group instrument in consultation with NHA December 1, 2019 Conduct focus groups with technicians January-April 2020 Prepare a draft survey instrument for NHA review June 15th 2020 Distribute the survey instrument invitations to all pharmacy technicians in the study sample, by regular mail July 15th 2020 Collect, review, and summarize the results of the survey instrument August-September 2020 Provide NHA with an initial comprehensive report explaining the preliminary data and findings obtained from the surveys and focus groups October, 2020 Draft manuscripts and submit for NHA review October 2020.
